The cover of the Smart Topper can be removed and washed.  The cover is made of 100% polyester and is white.  The cover material will shrink and wrinkle if washed in hot water or dried with hot air.  Ensure cold water washing and cool air drying.

We recommend having two people to remove the cover.

How to Remove the Cover

1. Unplug the electrical connection, then remove the rubber bedside control faces. There are three mushrooms at the bottom of the rubber face that hold it to slots in the hard plastic box inside the topper.  To release these ‘mushrooms’, pull the bottom of the rubber face first down and then away from the topper.  The bottom of the rubber face will come loose.

2. Once the bottom is loose then slide the rubber face up so that 2 additional ‘mushrooms’ at the top of the rubber cover become free.

3. There are 3 hooks in the hard plastic box that secure the topper cover material.  Remove the topper cover material from these 3 hooks by pushing the material off.  It may be easier to use a stiff pointy object like a screw driver.

4. Pull the cover material off the flange in the hard plastic box and Undo the snaps in the bottom of the cover at the foot area of the topper.  There are 2 to 4 snaps depending on the size of your topper.

5. Reach through the opening in the bottom of the cover and fold the corner fans towards the center of the bed and pull the cover over the foot area of the topper.

6. It is easiest now to pull the cover off the body area of the topper by pulling it off toward the head of the bed by making it turn inside-out.   Peel the cover back starting at the opening at the foot end of the cover.  You can slide the topper off the foot of the bed as you pull the cover up to the head of the bed or  fold the foot of the topper toward the head of the bed if you have space constraints.

Do not grab or pull on the foam surface of the topper as this material can be ripped and this will damage the performance of the topper.

7. When you have pulled the cover off the head of the topper, the power cord(s) will still be through the cover.  Gently pull the cord and surrounding grey rubber pass through out of the cover.

Machine Washing

Machine wash the removed Smart Topper cover with cold water and machine dry on a cool setting.  Regular household laundry detergent is recommended.  A large washer and dryer are required for queen, king and California king size covers.  If your washer is not large enough, consider hand washing or using a laundromat service.

IMPORTANT:  DO NOT use hot water or high dryer heat.  High heat will cause the topper to shrink a small amount and the cover may not fit well after.

IMPORTANT:  Remove the cover from the dryer immediately or it will wrinkle.  The wrinkling is hard to remove and will remain a long time, however, it will not affect the performance of the Snug Topper.

IMPORTANT:  Tightly folding or creasing the cover and storing it for more than a few days will create a wrinkle or crease in the cover top that will not be easily removed, however, wrinkles or creases will not affect the performance of the Smart Topper.

Hand Washing

You can hand wash the removed Smart Topper cover.  The cover is large so this will require a bathtub.  Household laundry detergent is recommended.  Wash with cold water and hang to dry.

IMPORTANT:  DO NOT use hot water or heat to dry.  High heat will cause the topper to shrink a small amount and the cover may not fit well after.

IMPORTANT:  Do not leave the cover to dry in a bunched up state to dry or it will wrinkle.  The wrinkling is hard to remove and will remain a long time, however, it will not affect the performance of the Smart Topper.

IMPORTANT:  Tightly folding or creasing the cover and storing it for more than a few days will create a wrinkle or crease in the cover top that will not be easily removed, however, wrinkles or creases will not affect the performance of the Smart Topper.

Dry Cleaning

The removed Smart Topper cover can be dry cleaned. Inform the dry cleaner that it is made of 100% polyester and that it is sensitive to heat causing shrinkage.
